Lissy’s Legacy of Love urgently needs help this holiday season. Many children in Norton, Barberton, and nearby communities who have been affected by addiction are still waiting for Christmas gifts. You can adopt a child or donate by Dec 3 to ensure every child feels loved this Christmas!

Christmas Gift Program in Need of Help

This is the sixth year of Lissy’s Legacy of Love's Christmas gift program, and the need has never been greater. Dozens of children across Norton, Barberton, and surrounding areas are waiting for someone to “adopt” them. Adoption means choosing a child by age and gender, shopping for 3–4 gifts, and returning them to the nonprofit.

How You Can Help

There are two main ways to give:

  • Adopt a Child: Email or message Lissy’s Legacy of Love to be assigned a child. You’ll shop for them and return the gifts.
  • Buy a Gift: Donate toys or items that can be shared with children who aren’t adopted or who need extra support.

Gift ideas include Legos, dolls, craft kits, blankets, bath sets, sports equipment, Pokémon items, and baby toys. You can also shop directly from the nonprofit's Amazon Registry, which ships gifts straight to the nonprofit.

Monetary donations are accepted through PayPal (lissyslegacyoflove@aol.com) and Venmo (@lissyslegacyoflove).

Why It Matters

Every child in this program has been impacted by addiction. Some are in foster care, some have parents in rehab or incarcerated, and some are facing their first Christmas without a parent. These kids don’t have it easy, but they are deeply grateful for every gift they receive.

Deadline to Donate

All gifts must be returned by December 3, 2025. With so many children still waiting to be adopted, the time to act is now.

A Mission of Love

Lissy’s Legacy of Love was founded to honor Elissa “Lissy” Garland, a young mother who dreamed of becoming a substance abuse counselor before her passing in 2020. Her family turned heartbreak into hope, creating a nonprofit that helps children impacted by addiction. Click the following link to find out more about Lissy's Legacy of Love.
